Features
Built-in Wi-Fi, a 10x zoom -- even a few manual controls. Wi-Fi is the Elph 330 HS's headline feature. It lets you beam photos instantly to Twitter and Facebook, or to your iOS or Android smartphone or tablet, computer, printer or another Wi-Fi Canon camera. You have to plug the camera into your PC or Mac to do a one-time Wi-Fi setup.
The Canon's 10x zoom lens starts at a wide-angle 24 mm, zooming in to 240 mm. Limited manual controls put you in charge of the EV compensation (to make your photos brighter or darker), flash control, macro focusing, metering, ISO setting and white balance. An array of preset scene modes help you capture moments like Fireworks and Snow or add special effects like Smooth Skin and Toy Camera.
Performance
"Beautiful pictures." The 12.1-megapixel Canon Elph 330 HS shoots better photos than a smartphone, reviews say -- and it shoots them faster. It can start up and shoot in less than 2 seconds. There's very little shutter lag, and you can fire off 2.4 full-res shots every second.
It "takes beautiful pictures," says Fisher -- sharp, colorful and well exposed, even with dim-light and fast-action shots. Video quality is very good, at full 1080p HD and 24 frames per second (fps); there's no 30 fps mode. Audio is good for such a little camera. Battery life is rated at 220 shots. Unlike most cheap cameras (which force you to charge the battery in-camera), the Canon comes with an external charger so you can easily swap in a fresh battery.
